The Canal & River Trust is seeking a Moorings Maintenance Manager who will oversee maintenance and repair activities, ensuring safety compliance and effective customer service. This role, primarily remote with mandatory site visits, requires experience in construction or engineering, alongside strong communication and management skills. We runwaterside mooring as part of our discretionary commercial business activities. This income is really important because it goes towards the work we do to bring the waterways to life for everyone. Our mooring sites comprise of those on the main lines of the canal/river which can either be next to the towpath or on the opposite bank, or they can be located ‘offline’ which includes small basins, lay-bys and marinas. The numbers of boats at eachsitevaries greatly from 1 to over 50.
We currently looking for a Moorings Maintenance Manager who will be responsible for overseeing basic maintenance and repair activities; supervising contractors to deliver customer driven service and product improvements within a safe environment.
As the Mooring MaintenanceManager you will ensure that health and safety and welfare issues are communicated effectively and promoted within their area of responsibility. The job holder will fully understand their responsibilities for and fulfil their duties in accordance with the Trusts policy and procedures. The role will require a minimum level of site attendance at mooring sites which are predominantly within northern canal network, approximately 2 days per week would be anticipated, however, operational issues can occur at any time and this may require increased time on mooring sites as and when the need arises.

Location & coverage
Our Mooring Maintenance Manager vacancy will be offered on a remote working basis, with a requirement to attend our main hub spaces as and when required for team working and collaborative meetings.
Relevant Hubs: Leeds, Ellesmere Port, Burnley, Newark.
Travel throughout the regional waterway network will also be expected to enable site visits and to shadow colleagues as part of our buddy system. The role covers the North of England, covering the canal network from around Leeds coming down to, give or take, the Stoke area.
The regularity & flexibility of travel will be discussed further at interview stage. Regular accessibility to the local network is essential in order to fulfil duties.
