Job summary

Pentland Ferries are seeking candidates for the Rope Person at Gills Bay ferry terminal. Shifts are two hours long and scheduled around ferry arrivals and departures, three times per day, with flexibility.

The role focuses on safety, mooring operations, berthing assistance, and contributing to oil pollution response. The successful candidate should have a reasonable fitness level; driving licence and own transport are advantageous, and training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Reasonable level of fitness to perform duties.
• Driving licence and access to own transport preferred.
• Willingness to participate in training.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mooring equipment for vessels’ arrival.
• Assist vessels during berthing and departure.
• Maintain site tidy and safe per policies.
• Take part in Oil Pollution Plan exercises.
• Support Harbour Master and emergency response teams.
• Uphold confidentiality and security policies.
