Job summary

SOCOTEC UK & Ireland is seeking a proactive Monitoring Surveyor to join the Acton, London team within the Monitoring & Surveying Division. You will organise site-based surveys, perform movement monitoring and contribute to successful project delivery.

A background in engineering surveying or civil engineering, proficiency with AutoCAD and Leica equipment, and a full UK driving licence are required. The role offers training and clear progression within a leading TIC services provider.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Surveying, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience with Leica equipment including Total Stations, GPS and precise levels.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in engineering surveying or monitoring surveys.
  • Excellent communication; ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Full UK driving licence and knowledge of geotechnical/structural instrumentation.

Responsibilities

  • Organise and deliver site-based engineering surveys and monitoring activities.
  • Carry out movement monitoring surveys with precision.
  • Undertake traversing and leveling for survey control.
  • Complete railway track surveys and produce survey plans using AutoCAD.
  • Prepare reports using Word/Excel and liaise with clients on progress.
  • Maintain health, safety, quality and environmental standards on site.

Monitoring Surveyor - Acton, London

As SOCOTEC grows, so do our teams. We're looking for a dedicated Monitoring Surveyor to join our Monitoring & Surveying Division and wear the SOCOTEC badge with pride.

We are seeking a proactive, reliable, and flexible Monitoring Surveyor to join our Monitoring & Surveying team. In this role, you'll need the confidence to work independently, alongside the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team. A background in engineering surveying or civil engineering, together with knowledge of construction, infrastructure, rail and monitoring survey techniques, is essential to thrive in this position.

The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):

  • Organising and delivering site-based engineering surveys and manual monitoring activities.
  • Carrying out precise movement monitoring surveys.
  • Undertaking precise traversing and levelling for survey control.
  • Completing railway track surveys.
  • Producing survey plans and section drawings using AutoCAD or similar software.
  • Conducting as-built surveys.
  • Preparing reports using Microsoft Word and Excel templates.
  • Liaising with clients and colleagues to provide project updates and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance on site
Qualifications

To be a successful Monitoring Surveyor, you should be able to demonstrate:

  • A qualification in Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience using Leica surveying equipment, including Total Stations, GPS receivers and precise levels.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrable experience within engineering surveying or monitoring surveys.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritise work in a fast-paced environment.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Experience using MicroSurvey StarNet and N4CE Survey Software.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical and structural instrumentation.
  • Experience working within construction, tunnelling or rail environments.
  • CSCS, PTS and Sentinel ICI-LU accreditation.
