Location: London or Swindon office

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2 days on-site / 3 days remote)

As a MongoDB Database Administrator, you will design, build, and maintain MongoDB databases and infrastructure to deliver strong business solutions. You will be involved from design to support of both non-production and production environments. We promote a learning culture at NBS, encouraging ongoing development and skill enhancement. You will have opportunities to collaborate and share ideas within our professional communities.

We support flexible working to help you perform at your best. Nationwide offers hybrid working options, combining office presence with home working. You will spend at least two days per week at our London, Swindon, Northampton, or Bournemouth offices. If based outside these locations, you will be required to attend the office once a month for workshops and meetings.

What you’ll be doing

You will work within delivery teams, providing technical leadership and SME advice to design and implement MongoDB solutions, guiding less experienced engineers, and ensuring fit-for-purpose designs. On-call work may be required.

About you

You should have a proven track record in MongoDB design, build, and implementation, with in-depth knowledge of:

  • Linux operating systems
  • MongoDB OpsManager for backups and deployments
  • MongoDB architecture, replication, and sharding
  • JSON document support, exporting, and importing
  • Troubleshooting and performance tuning in MongoDB
  • Working across multiple projects and sharing expertise
  • Building relationships with technical and business stakeholders
  • Learning new technologies quickly

Knowledge and experience in at least three of the following areas are desirable:

  • Infrastructure as Code (Ansible or similar)
  • LDAP integration
  • Red Hat OpenShift
  • Kafka
  • Network and security concepts
  • Agile methodologies and Scrum
  • Regulatory environments (PCI, GDPR)
  • Working with third-party vendors
