Job summary

Yardi Systems seeks a Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to lead AML/CTF compliance across the UK and EU. The MLRO identifies, assesses, escalates, and reports financial crime risks and manages an AML team across jurisdictions.

You will collaborate with senior management, Legal, Compliance and business units to maintain an effective AML program, provide regulatory oversight, and foster a strong culture of compliance, with regular reporting to the Board.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or equivalent.
  • Ten years of relevant experience in AML, financial crime compliance, regulatory compliance, risk management, legal, audit, or a related field.
  • Five in AML/financial crime compliance and demonstrated experience operating at a senior level.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK AML and CTF laws, regulations, and regulatory expectations.
  • Working knowledge of relevant EU AML requirements and the ability to oversee AML compliance activities across UK and EU operations.
  • Knowledge of relevant FCA requirements, guidance, and expectations, where applicable.
  • Experience developing and maintaining money laundering and terrorist financing risk assessments.
  • Strong knowledge of KYC, CDD, EDD, PEP, sanctions, ongoing monitoring, and suspicious activity reporting requirements and processes.
  • Experience managing a team of AML professionals.
  • Experience developing, implementing, reviewing, and testing AML compliance programs and controls.
  • Experience interacting with regulators, law enforcement, auditors, and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience preparing and presenting AML risk and compliance reporting to senior management and/or Boards.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into effective operational policies, standards, procedures, and controls.
  • Relevant AML, compliance, legal, or financial crime qualifications are desirable but may not be required where the candidate demonstrates sufficient knowledge and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain AML/CTF framework across the UK and EU, ensuring policies, procedures, systems, and controls remain current, effective, and aligned with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Own and periodically update money laundering and terrorist financing risk assessments; establish appropriate Know Your Customer (KYC), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), PEP and sanctions standards.
  • Oversee ongoing monitoring and suspicious activity detection, investigation, escalation, and reporting processes, including determining when Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) or other regulatory notifications are required.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulators and law enforcement on AML matters and coordinate responses to regulatory examinations, inquiries, investigations, and information requests.
  • Regularly report material AML risks, issues, regulatory developments, control deficiencies, remediation activities, and overall program effectiveness to senior management and the Board.
  • Monitor adherence to AML policies and controls and conduct oversee annual AML reviews and program testing, ensuring identified deficiencies are appropriately remediated.
  • Oversee AML training and awareness programs to ensure relevant employees, management, and stakeholders understand their responsibilities and maintain an appropriate culture of compliance.
  • Manage an AML team in the UK and the Netherlands and coordinate UK and EU AML activities, including delegated responsibilities, escalation processes, and jurisdiction-specific compliance requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate records of AML risk assessments, due diligence, investigations, regulatory filings, monitoring, testing, and compliance decisions are maintained in accordance with applicable requirements.

Required qualifications

  • Ten years of relevant experience in AML, financial crimecompliance, regulatory compliance, risk management, legal, audit, or a relatedfield
  • Five in AML/financial crime compliance and demonstratedexperience operating at a senior level
  • Strong working knowledge of UK AML and CTF laws,regulations, and regulatory expectations
  • Working knowledge of relevant EU AML requirements and theability to oversee AML compliance activities across UK and EU operations
  • Knowledge of relevant Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)requirements, guidance, and expectations, where applicable
  • Experience developing and maintaining money laundering andterrorist financing risk assessments
  • Strong knowledge of KYC, CDD, EDD, PEP, sanctions, ongoingmonitoring, and suspicious activity reporting requirements and processes
  • Experience managing a team of AML professionals
  • Experience developing, implementing, reviewing, andtesting AML compliance programs and controls
  • Experience interacting with regulators, law enforcement,auditors, and senior stakeholders
  • Experience preparing and presenting AML risk andcompliance reporting to senior management and/or Boards
