To ensure accurate planning and delivery of Molecular Radiotherapy treatments as prescribed, with appropriate care of the patient with a cancer and non-cancerous diagnosis.

To assist the Band 7/8 Radiographer in charge and deputise as necessary.

To be involved with the development of Molecular Radiotherapy Services.

The post holder will be required to work some evenings, weekends, bank holidays and to participate in an on call rota.

All staff are involved in the development of the service and we actively encourage continual professional development including opportunities for post graduate learning to develop skills to promote patient centred care.

Main duties of the job
  • Effectively communicate radiation protection guidance to patients, their family and carers' according to individual treatments
  • Analyse and evaluate all data and information relevant to patients’ treatments ensuring the patient and their relatives are
    treated with dignity and respect at all times.
  • Anticipate and identify common and complex treatment related side effects, offering advice and where necessary refer to the relevant
    health care professional
  • Safely respond to unexpected incidents, following safe working practice
  • Be able to justify the patients’ treatment based on theoretical knowledge
  • Provide, receive and use sensitive information maintaining patient confidentiality at all times, ensuring that accurate treatment records are kept at all times
  • Provide information to patients and their carers about their treatment and expected side effects.
  • Communicate accurate and timely information with all other disciplines involved in providing high quality molecular radiotherapy treatment including communicating with the patients GP’s and producing end of treatment summaries
  • Apply safe and effective moving and handling skills in order to protect all individuals
  • Able to accurately and safely set-up equipment for Molecular Radiotherapy treatment delivery
  • Recognise any faults and malfunctions with equipment within the department and report them to the appropriate people
  • Complete safe and effective management and maintenance of patient treatment areas including decontamination
