Whether you’re fresh out of school or considering a career change, we have opportunities that challenge, support, and help you grow.

Join our Leakage team in Edinburgh and Lothians from August 2025.

What does a Water Leakage Modern Apprentice do?

You’ll be ensuring Scotland’s water supply is reliable and efficient. This role involves fieldwork, monitoring water systems, identifying leaks, and reducing water loss to serve our customers effectively.

You’ll use the latest technology for monitoring and troubleshooting, and your training will prepare you to repair and optimise water systems, delivering high-quality service across Scotland.

Safety is a priority. You’ll receive PPE and training on risk assessments and health and safety protocols.

This is an opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to Scotland’s water supply, setting high standards in the industry.

Your Journey with Us

Our Apprenticeships combine on-the-job training with professional qualifications. Supported by our Skills Academy, each apprentice has a line manager and a personal assessor to guide their training.

Over four years, you’ll train to become a fully qualified Water Leakage Technician, gaining essential skills and confidence.

  • Use advanced technology for leak detection and monitoring
  • Maintain and improve water systems to minimise leakage
  • Conduct inspections of water infrastructure
  • Follow strict health and safety procedures

Much of your work will be outdoors. We’ll provide appropriate clothing for Scotland’s weather.

Join an experienced team that supports your development and helps you achieve a nationally recognised qualification. Earn as you learn, working with industry leaders to deliver essential services.

What’s in it for you?

Challenge yourself with top-tier training, support, and development opportunities.

You’ll qualify with a Water Industry SVQ at SCQF Level 6. From Year 2, you can pursue an HNC in Water Operations, with support from our trainers and assessors.

Earn as you learn. Starting salary is £22,072, with scheduled increases, an annual bonus, and a pension scheme.

Job security. Many apprentices stay with us long-term, advancing into leadership or technical roles.

You’ll provide vital services to Scotland and your community, helping protect the environment.

Work as part of a friendly team committed to your success and enjoyment at work.

What you’ll need
  • You must be at least 17 years old by 1 August 2025.
  • A responsible attitude to work and learning.
  • Ideally, five National 4 or 5s, including English, Maths, and Science (not essential but helpful).
  • A driving licence is useful, especially for remote locations. Support is available to help you obtain your licence during your first year.
