We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join our team as a Model Risk Management Lead.

The environment in which HSBC operates is subject to increasing regulatory change, including new standards for model governance (SS 1/23). HSBC has aligned its Global Model Risk Policy with these standards. The Wholesale Credit Risk Analytics (WCRA) function needs to enhance its legacy models to ensure compliance.

The Model Risk Management Lead will support the Professional Practices team in remediating SS1/23 compliance for wholesale credit risk analytics models. You will manage multiple stakeholders and demonstrate progress in remediation efforts. You will also support senior management in understanding the impact of regulatory proposals.

In this role, you will:

• Lead remediation efforts, understanding and supporting model owners' plans
• Engage with stakeholders to define remediation plans for SS1/23 compliance
• Promote collaboration across global modeling teams for consistent compliance approach
• Develop governance processes to manage model risk across WCRA
• Support risk controls and prepare reports tracking progress against milestones
• Organize training sessions and workshops
• Manage projects end-to-end for SS1/23 and other initiatives
• Update documentation as needed
• Help establish a strong control environment and respond to audits and regulators

To succeed, you should have:

• Strong understanding of the regulatory environment, especially SS1/23
• Knowledge of model risk, governance, and controls
• Ability to drive project delivery independently
• Understanding of modeling processes and credit products
• Relevant experience in banking, rating agencies, or consultancy
• Organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and training skills
