Job summary

Visa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 Team is seeking an experienced Model Maker for Gantry Operational Support. You will assemble models, prepare parts for our Aerodynamic program and collaborate with design, aerodynamicists and the Additive Manufacturing team to supply wind tunnel test parts.

The role requires extensive automotive/high‑performance engineering experience, familiarity with Leica systems and 3D scanning, and the ability to work shifts.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in automotive or high-performance engineering; Formula 1 experience desirable.
• Solid knowledge of Leica systems and 3D scanning.
• Flexibility to work on shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and prepare wind tunnel models and parts for aerodynamic testing.
• Collaborate with Modelmakers, Mechanical Design and Aerodynamics to provide required parts.
• Support preparation, assembly and setup of wind tunnel models and related software.
• Develop wind tunnel models and testing programs with team leaders and designers.
• Communicate priorities and issues clearly to ensure timely delivery and problem resolution.
• Guide and support junior team members to promote learning and capability growth.

Model Maker - Gantry Operational Support

We are looking for an experienced Model Maker to be responsible for assembly of the models, preparing parts and assemblies in line with our Aerodynamic program, to enhance and make the car faster. They will liaise with other Modelmakers, Model design, Mechanical design, Aerodynamicist plus the Additive Manufacturing team to provide parts for wind tunnel testing.The role will also involve working with the software and technology used to support the preparation, assembly and setup of wind tunnel models.

Work with the Team Leaders, Modelmakers and in conjunction with design and Aerodynamicist to develop our wind tunnel models and and testing program.

Take personal ownership of assigned work, anticipating requirements, identifying risks early and acting decisively to maintain delivery momentum.

Communicate clearly and constructively across the Aerodynamics department, ensuring priorities, technical issues and recovery actions are understood and progressed without delay.

Provide flexible attendance and attitude to work, both in line with the requirements of the role and any specific requirements of the Aero department.

Execute the day-to-day tasks, providing support to model shop activities and wind tunnel working.

Manage time effectively in line with departmental requirements.

Identify and implement new methods, processes, and procedures to improve efficiency and capability, while actively supporting the development and upskilling of junior team members.

Support the development and upskilling of junior team members through practical guidance, knowledge sharing and consistently high professional standards.

Experience

• Extensive experience within the automotive industry or high-performance engineering sector; previous experience in Formula 1 is desirable.
• Strong and broad knowledge of Leica systems, 3D scanning, PI Toolbox, Diablo procedures, and related systems.
• Flexibility to work on shifts.
• Ability to scope all tasks thoroughly, identify issues and discuss concerns and necessary actions.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure.
