Join our community:

We're looking for a dynamic and driven Manager to join our "Model and Controls, Governance and Monitoring" team - a core part of how we protect our customers and enable smarter decisions to be made across the Bank.

If you are passionate about understanding model performance and managing model risk, ensuring robust governance, and holistic model lifecycle management, and you've developed your expertise through model development, validation or usage, this is your chance to make a real impact. You'll be joining a team that champions excellent model risk management, collaboration, and innovation to keep our customers safe and drive value for the business areas.

The difference you'll make:

As a model owner, you'll lead the end-to-end management of Risk models, ensuring they are robust, well-governed, and deliver trusted outcomes.

You'll work across the Bank with stakeholders to embed excellent model governance practices and support the delivery of key regulatory requirements like SS1/23 , critical to the culture transformation around model management in banks.

Your work will ensure our models are fit for purpose, risk is adequately managed and informed decision-making can be relied upon. By championing best practices in model ownership, you'll play a vital role in protecting our customers and contributing to the Bank's strategic success.

What you'll bring:

  • Experience managing credit risk models or a background in model development, validation, or usage.
  • Excellent knowledge of model governance frameworks and regulatory expectations.
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, with great communication skills and experience in management reporting and presenting to governance committees.
  • Proactive problem solver who can identify issues early and drive practical, risk-focused solutions.

It would also be nice for you to have:
  • Prudential expertise gained from regulatory or consultancy experience.
  • Familiarity with SS1/23, SS4/24, Basel 3.1 suite of regulations, and internal compliance standards.
  • Experience supporting model attestations and audit readiness.
  • Proven ability to manage model lifecycle including planning, development projects, approvals, and remediation activities.
  • In addition to proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, experience with PowerBI, Confluence, JIRA and SQL/python would be advantageous.

What else you need to know:
  • Our preferred location for this role is Milton Keynes.
  • We want our people to thrive at work and home and be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).
  • If you apply for this role in any of these locations, it's important you consider your travelling distance, time, and cost from your home to the office locations.
  • We're happy to discuss specific working patterns and arrangement within this hybrid approach during the recruitment process.

  • Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus.
  • We put 8% of salary into your pension, even if you don't contribute yourself. We'll pay in up to 12.5% of salary, if you contribute as well, and you can take some of our contribution in cash if you prefer.
  • 30 days' holiday plus bank holidays, which increases to 31 days after 5yrs service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year.
  • £6,000 car allowance per year
