This role is a permanent, part-time position offering 8 hours per week Thursday only, this is due to clinical surgery availability.

Our MOD Dentists aim is to maximise the deployability of the Population at Risk, providing clinical outputs, improving, and managing the dental health and operational fitness of service personnel for whom they are responsible for.
The contracted hours are to be utilised to provide clinical outputs and work will be directed towards improving and maintaining the dental health and operational fitness of personnel for whom you are responsible.

Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:
Providing an occupational oral health assessment, being fully conversant with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation Dental Fitness categorisation and dental input into the Joint Medical Employment Standard for Service personnel. Ensuring that surgery management, documentation including consumable stores, the safe custody of personal sensitive data and the maintenance of equipment is always kept to a high standard.
Onward referral of personnel to enhanced practitioners, specialists, or consultants for treatment as appropriate.
Ministry of Defence Dentists are to be prepared to travel to and work from dental centres within the region other than their normal place of work if requested by Senior Dental Officer/Line Manager.
Ministry of Defence Dentists may be required to Line Manage lower roles/grades (Civilian or Military) within the centre, this obligation will be discussed and agreed with the individual and all reporting policies and procedures are to be followed

All employees joining Ministry of Defence who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 6-month probation period (unless otherwise advised) effective from the employment start date.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.
The post does NOT offer relocation expenses (move of home, excess fares or temporary transfer). Non-Standard move applicants will be eligible for the full package, subject to eligibility.
