Job summary

RAC is recruiting a Mobile Vehicle Technician for its SMR division. You will perform routine servicing, diagnostics and in-depth repairs on sites across the Reading cluster, following a structured schedule with no emergency callouts.

You’ll use advanced diagnostics, provide member guidance and maintain RAC safety standards, with a fully equipped RAC van and supported by a clear pre-booked work plan.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing and diagnostics using mobile equipment.
• In-depth repairs typically done in a workshop setting.
• Provide member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
• Vehicular safety checks aligned to RAC standards.

Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician inour SMR Division - a new era of mobile repair.

Acompetitive base salary of £40,170, with on-target earnings of up to£52,000

40hours per week, with core hours from8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and 1 in 4Saturdays.

The RAC is known for roadside rescue - but this isn’t that.

Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a newer, fast-growingpart of the RAC, built to deliver planned, structured repair and servicingdirectly to members - from their driveway to their workplace car park.

There are no emergency callouts, no unpredictable shift patterns and noroadside recoveries.Instead, you’ll work through a scheduled list ofjobs, with the time, tools and support you need to do quality work.

Where you'll work

You’ll be part of the Reading cluster, covering areas like Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell, Henley-on-Thames, Crowthorne, Sandhurst. You’ll be out on the road in your local area, working through a clearly planned schedule of appointments - no reactive callouts, just organised, pre-booked work where you can focus on doing the job properly.

What you'll need

Either:

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience

or

• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

and

• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
