Job summary

RAC is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician for its SMR division in the Newbury cluster. You will perform planned servicing, diagnostics with mobile equipment and in-depth repairs at customers’ driveways and car parks, with a scheduled list of jobs and no emergency callouts.

You’ll work 40 hours weekly with a guaranteed overtime option, earning a base of £40,170 and on-target earnings up to £52,000, plus benefits and a uniform kit. Training and progression options are available.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a newer, fast-growingpart of the RAC, built to deliver planned, structured repair and servicingdirectly to members - from their driveway to their workplace car park.

There are no emergency callouts, no unpredictable shift patterns and noroadside recoveries.Instead, you’ll work through a scheduled list ofjobs, with the time, tools and support you need to do quality work.

Where you’ll work

You’ll be part of the Newbury cluster, covering areas like Newbury, Thatcham, Andover, Hungerford, Lambourn, You’ll be out on the road in your local area, working through a clearly planned schedule of appointments - no reactive callouts, just organised, pre‑booked work where you can focus on doing the job properly.

• In‑depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop
• Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection

From day one, you’ll have everything you need: a fully equipped RAC van, fuelcard, uniform, full tool set and advanced diagnostics. You’ll use yourtechnical skill and problem‑solving ability to get people moving again; safely,quickly and confidently.

What you’ll need

Either:

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
