Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician in our SMR Division—a new era of mobile repair. You’ll handle pre-booked jobs with a clear digital schedule, performing routine servicing, diagnostics, and in-depth repairs on customers’ vehicles.

Based in the Bristol cluster (Filton included), you’ll operate on a scheduled list of appointments with no emergency callouts, delivering quality work with support and parts ordering built in.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent with 2+ years’ experience
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician in our SMR Division - a new era of mobile repair.

A competitive base salary of £40,178, with on-target earnings of up to £52,000

A guaranteed overtime option to increase your base salary to £44,385, plus additional overtime and bonus opportunities

40 hours per week, with core hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and 1 in 4 Saturdays.

The RAC is known for roadside rescue - but this isn’t that.

Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a newer, fast-growing part of the RAC, built to deliver planned, structured repair and servicing directly to members - from their driveway to their workplace car park.

There are no emergency callouts, no unpredictable shift patterns and no roadside recoveries. Instead, you’ll work through a scheduled list of jobs, with the time, tools and support you need to do quality work.

Where you’ll work

You’ll be part of the Bristol cluster, covering areas like Bristol (City Centre & Suburbs), Portishead, Clevedon, Filton, Patchway, Yate, Keynsham. You’ll be out on the road in your local area, working through a clearly planned schedule of appointments - no reactive callouts, just organised, pre‑booked work where you can focus on doing the job properly.

Your day starts with a clear digital schedule. Each job is pre‑booked, with the member expecting you.

From day one, you’ll have everything you need: a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card, uniform, full tool set and advanced diagnostics. You’ll use your technical skill and problem‑solving ability to get people moving again; safely, quickly and confidently.

What you’ll need...

Either:

NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience

or

5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic

and

A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
