Job summary

TIP Group in Crawley is seeking an experienced Mobile Tanker Mechanic to inspect, service and repair our tanker equipment. You’ll ensure DVSA-compliant maintenance and keep accurate records to maintain a roadworthy fleet.

We offer a full-time pattern with overtime potential; base salary £45,000 per year, with earnings up to £55,000 including overtime. A proactive safety mindset and relevant heavy-vehicle qualifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience as tanker/HGV mechanic or in a similar heavy vehicle role.
• IRTEC certification desirable (or working towards).
• Heavy Vehicle Level 3 qualification, or equivalent time-served experience.
• Proactive, safety-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Routine inspections, servicing, and PMI checks on tanker equipment.
• Diagnosing and repairing faults across braking, suspension, electrical, and bodywork systems.
• Maintaining DVSA compliance in maintenance and repairs.
• Recording work to keep fleet history up to date.
• Collaborating with the team to keep vehicles moving.

Mobile Tanker Mechanic – Crawley

Full time: Monday–Thursday, 7:00am–5:00pm; Friday, 7:00am–4:30pm

Salary: £45,000 per annum

Overtime: Paid x1.5 - Potential earnings inc overtime £55,000 per annum

The Role

As an Mobile Tanker Mechanic you’ll inspect, service, maintain and repair a range of Tanker equipment. This will include carrying out routine maintenance and safety inspections, diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, completing repairs and replacing or adjusting components as required. You’ll also record work completed and ensure Tankers are returned to a safe and roadworthy condition.

What you’ll be doing:

• Routine inspections, servicing, and PMI checks on Tanker equipment
• Diagnosing and repairing faults across braking, suspension, electrical, and bodywork systems
• Keeping maintenance and repair work to DVSA compliance standards
• Recording work accurately so the fleet's history stays on top of things
• Working closely with the wider team to keep vehicles moving
