Job summary

Long Term Futures is partnering with a specialist Alternative Provision to appoint a Peripatetic Specialist Teaching & Learning Assistant to support pupils across primary and secondary ages in Dronfield and surrounding areas. The roaming tutor will deliver personalised one-to-one learning and pastoral support both on and off-site.

You will carry out home visits, welfare checks, and transport pupils safely to placements. A full driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Must have a full driving licence and be willing to obtain business insurance.
• Experience in supporting pupils with additional needs in a school or youth work setting.
• Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build trust with students.
• As a home tutor you must be calm, patient, and adaptable to challenges.

Responsibilities

• Carry out home visits, welfare checks, and transport pupils safely to educational placements, vocational settings, and reintegration programmes where required.
• Provide tailored one-to-one support for pupils with behavioural needs. This is across Primary and secondary age groups.
• Help create a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment.
• Support pupils’ academic progress as well as their emotional wellbeing and personal development.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and their families to encourage engagement, attendance, emotional wellbeing, and successful reintegration into education.
• Contribute to behaviour management and therapeutic support strategies.
