Job Description

The Service Engineer (AC) will deliver air conditioning–focused building services engineering maintenance across a variety of client properties within the designated region.

This includes fault diagnosis, repairs, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and installations. The role emphasises maintaining high service standards and ensuring full compliance with health and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out AC and HVAC-biased PPM, proactive, and reactive tasks issued via the helpdesk within agreed timeframes to exceed customer expectations.
  • Perform general building services maintenance, including fabric, HVAC, and mechanical tasks.
  • Undertake new AC installations and major/minor repair works.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on systems and plant, including basic electrical fault finding.
  • Oversee and monitor contractors on behalf of the client, ensuring standards are met and issuing Permits to Work where required.
  • Ensure all AC equipment performs to specified criteria and company standards.
  • Maintain equipment and surrounding areas in line with agreed quality standards.
  • Deliver a professional service that upholds company reputation and ensures customer satisfaction.
  • Evaluate system performance and ensure all contracted equipment is properly serviced and maintained.

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

  • City & Guilds 2079 (F-Gas – Safe Handling of Refrigerants) and NVQ Level 2/3 in AC/HVAC systems.
  • Full UK Driving Licence; IPAF and PASMA certifications preferred.
  • Strong experience in AC/HVAC maintenance and installation.
  • Proven background in reactive and PPM building services maintenance.
  • Extensive experience in air conditioning and HVAC fault finding, maintenance, and installations.
  • Familiarity with facilities management (FM) environments and commercial building services.
  • Solid understanding and adherence to Health & Safety procedures, including risk assessments and method statements.
