Job summary

Aberdeen in Edinburgh is seeking a permanent Senior QA lead to shape quality practices across multiple agile squads. You will define testing strategies and guide quality standards while supporting engineering teams in adopting automated and exploratory testing approaches.

The role balances hands-on QA with coaching, enabling teams to improve coverage, reliability, and customer outcomes, including mobile and web testing, AI-driven testing, and CI/CD integration.

Qualifications

• Experience in manual and automated software testing, with understanding of when each approach is appropriate.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to coach engineers to improve quality practices and standards.
• Knowledge of testing frameworks and tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Jest, JUnit or Postman.
• Experience defining testing strategies and working within agile, cross-functional teams.
• Experience testing mobile apps on iOS and/or Android.

Responsibilities

• Define test strategies and coverage across unit, component, API, integration, and end-to-end layers.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers and product managers to build quality into products from the earliest stages.
• Design and contribute to automated and exploratory testing for web and mobile apps (iOS/Android).
• Mentor engineering teams on testing best practices, CI/CD integration, automation, and shift-left quality.
• Drive improvements in testing frameworks, tooling, performance, accessibility, security, and resilience.
• Leverage AI-driven testing techniques to improve coverage, execution efficiency, and defect detection.
