Job summary

Pareto FM is seeking a skilled Mobile PPM Engineer to support a portfolio of client sites across Birmingham and surrounding areas. The role is field-based, requiring travel between sites to deliver planned preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical building services, while providing reactive support when needed.

You will join a capable engineering team within Pareto FM's Northern Business Unit, operating with clear processes, RAMS compliance, and real-time maintenance reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience in PPM, facilities or building maintenance engineering.
• Knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical building services (M&E/HVAC).
• Engineering qualification such as City & Guilds/NVQ Level 2 or 3.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using CAFM or mobile maintenance software.
• Valid UK driving licence; clean licence preferred though up to 3 points considered.
• Capable of working independently across multiple sites.
• Good communication skills and professional client-site conduct.

Responsibilities

• Deliver PPM in line with maintenance schedules, statutory requirements and SLAs.
• Carry out reactive maintenance, fault finding and minor repairs.
• Work across mechanical and/or electrical building services and plant.
• Update CAFM systems and maintain electronic maintenance records.
• Follow RAMS and health & safety procedures.
• Identify defects and opportunities for improvement.
• Undertake minor building fabric maintenance where appropriate.

Mobile PPM Engineer – Birmingham & Surrounding Areas

Pareto FM is looking for a skilled and reliable Mobile PPM Engineer to support a portfolio of client sites across Birmingham and the surrounding areas.

This is a field-based role, so travel between sites is an essential part of the position. You'll be responsible for delivering high-quality planned preventative maintenance across a range of building services, helping to ensure our client sites remain safe, compliant and operating efficiently.

As part of our Northern Business Unit, you'll join a well-supported engineering team with experienced leadership, clear processes and the tools and resources you need to do your job effectively.

The Role

Your primary focus will be delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) across mechanical and/or electrical building services, while also supporting reactive maintenance and fault finding when required.

This role would suit an engineer who enjoys working independently, managing their own workload and taking pride in delivering a consistently high standard of service across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver PPM in line with maintenance schedules, statutory requirements and SLAs.

• Carry out reactive maintenance, fault finding and minor repairs when required.

• Work across mechanical and/or electrical building services and associated plant.

• Accurately update CAFM systems and complete electronic maintenance records in real time.

• Work in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures, including RAMS.

• Identify and report defects, risks and opportunities for improvement.

• Undertake minor repairs and general building fabric maintenance where appropriate.

• Build professional relationships with clients and site teams.

• Support specialist subcontractors during planned works and maintenance activities.

• Ensure tools, equipment and company assets are maintained in good condition.

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Previous experience within a PPM, facilities or building maintenance engineering role.

• Good working knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical building services, including M&E/HVAC systems.

• Relevant engineering qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2 or 3, or equivalent.

• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

• Experience using CAFM systems or mobile maintenance reporting software.

• Full UK driving licence. A clean licence is preferred, although up to 3 points will be considered.

• Comfortable working independently across a multi-site portfolio.

• Good communication skills and a professional approach when working on client sites.

Desirable

• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations for electrically biased engineers.

• F-Gas qualification for HVAC-biased engineers.

• Previous experience within commercial facilities management environments such as offices, retail, healthcare or industrial sites.

Team & Support

You'll have day-to-day operational support from our Lead Contract Support team, helping with coordination, materials and site requirements, alongside line management from the Account Manager and Engineering Supervisor.

You'll also be part of the wider Northern Business Unit, giving you access to an established engineering network and ongoing technical and operational support.
