Job summary

Heidelberg Materials UK (Master Quarry, Wareham) is seeking a Mobile Plant Operator to safely operate a Front End Loader and support daily production in a busy quarry.

You will work as part of a skilled team, follow safety procedures, perform routine equipment checks, and help maintain high housekeeping standards while contributing to achieving production targets.

Qualifications

• Experience operating mobile plant machinery in quarry, construction, recycling or similar environment.
• GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths.
• EPIC certification for mobile plant operations.
• NVQ Level 2 in Mobile Plant Operations or willingness to work towards it.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Front End Loading Shovel (FEL) to de-stock sand from the wash plant and load HGVs.
• Operate other mobile plant machinery where trained and certified.
• Carry out routine inspections and maintenance on mobile plant equipment.
• Support operational activities across the processing plant as required.
• Follow all Health & Safety procedures and Quarry Regulations.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safe working practices.
• Work collaboratively with site management and teams to achieve targets.

The Role

As a Mobile Plant Operator, your primary responsibility will be operating a Front End Loading Shovel (FEL), supporting the day-to-day production process by handling materials safely and efficiently.

Working as part of an experienced quarry team, you’ll contribute to the smooth operation of the site while maintaining the highest standards of safety, housekeeping, and equipment care.

What You’ll Be Doin g

• Carrying out routine inspections and maintenance on mobile plant equipment.
• Supporting operational activities across the processing plant as required.

• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and safe working practices.
• Working collaboratively with site management and operational teams to achieve production targets.

To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have:

• Experience operating mobile plant machinery in a quarry, construction, recycling, or similar heavy industrial environment.
• GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths.
• EPIC certification for mobile plant operations.
• NVQ Level 2 in Mobile Plant Operations (or willingness to work towards if required).
• A strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A proactive approach with a willingness to support wider site operations when needed.
