Job summary

Emr-Uk is seeking a skilled Mobile Plant Fitter to join the Maintenance team. The role covers Leeds and surrounding sites, with occasional travel to other UK locations. Monday–Friday, field-based across South Yorkshire operations.

You will carry out planned maintenance, fault finding and repairs on mobile plant including material handlers, loading shovels, cranes and more. Strong diagnostic skills and a UK driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy mobile plant in port, quarry, recycling, bulk handling or industrial environments.
• Demonstrable competence on Caterpillar, Liebherr, Sennebogen equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Experience with material handlers, loading shovels, cranes, reach stackers, forklifts and heavy industrial plant.
• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent in Plant Maintenance/Heavy Vehicle Maintenance/Mechanical Engineering.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance, fault finding, repairs and breakdown response on mobile plant and port equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic faults using OEM diagnostic equipment and manuals.
• Apply LOTOTO procedures and safe systems of work.
• Support continuous improvement to increase equipment reliability and availability.
• Collaborate with site operations, contractors and engineering to minimise downtime and maximise performance.

About Our Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mobile Plant Fitter to join our Maintenance team. As a key member of the maintenance function, you will be responsible for carrying out reactive, preventative, predictive, and planned maintenance activities across our South Yorkshire operations.

This is a mobile role covering Leeds and surrounding sites, with occasional travel to other UK locations when operationally required.

The role will operate Monday-Friday.

What You Will Be Doing

• Carry out planned maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and breakdown response on a wide range of mobile plant and port equipment: Material Handlers (Sennebogen, Liebherr, Caterpillar), Wheeled Loading Shovels, Hydraulic Cranes, etc.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic faults using OEM diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.
• Apply and adhere to LOTOTO (Lock Out, Tag Out, Try Out) procedures and company safe systems of work.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability and availability.
• Work closely with site operations, contractors, and engineering colleagues to minimise downtime and maximise operational performance

About You

• Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy mobile plant in a port, waste, quarry, recycling, aggregates, bulk handling, or industrial environment.
• Demonstrable competence working on: Caterpillar, Liebherr, Sennebogen
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Experience working with material handlers, loading shovels, cranes, reach stackers, forklifts, and heavy industrial plant.
• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Plant Maintenance, Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
