Full Time Shift - 3:00pm-11:00pm
Pay Range: $17.00-$22.00 Based on experience.

ROLE:

The Mobile Phlebotomist, under the general supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, works to provide clinical pre-analytical laboratory services to our clients/patients in a mobile setting. They are responsible for completing their assigned routes in a safe and timely manner. They must follow all policies and procedures.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Drives vehicle to client facilities, typically nursing homes, as directed by company dispatcher.
  2. Unloads phlebotomy tray and takes to patient’s bedside to collect samples ordered by physician.
  3. Accurately identifies patient before collecting specimen(s).
  4. Accurately collects, labels, processes, and delivers specimens obtained from patients.
  5. Reloads equipment and all necessary specimens to vehicle for prompt delivery.
  6. Regularly communicates with dispatcher to report status and location.
  7. Strict adherence to Universal Precautions in controlling blood-borne pathogens and infectious disease exposures.
  8. Maintain required certifications, health requirements, and operational requirements.
  9. Keeps work area clean.
  10. Follow all required safety precautions ALL the time.
  11. Reports any unsafe conditions in the workplace.
  12. Reports all complaints and problems encountered.
  13. Monitors supplies inventory.
  14. Reports low stock or out-of-stock situations.
  15. Identifies and segregates any expired supplies.
  16. Reports to work promptly, properly groomed and wears the proper identification at all times when visiting a facility.
  17. Accurately maintains time records of hours worked and deliver to company as directed.
  18. Manages his/her assigned shift to include meal breaks.
  19. Follows all specimen preservation, patient preparation and specimen management processes and procedures as written without personal deviation.
  20. Uses only approved current documents.
  21. Makes changes to records ONLY per approved instructions as needed; As needed, on-call evenings and weekends; irregular unscheduled overtime as needed based on the company workload or absenteeism.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  1. Practices excellent communication and interaction skills specific to the population served, including the pediatric and geriatric communities.
  2. Treats customers and patients with respect, dignity, and discretion; acknowledging residents’ rights and patients’ right to refuse.
  3. Demonstrate regular attendance.
  4. Must have a current, valid State phlebotomy license (if required).
  5. Must have a current, valid State Driver’s license; car insurance; good driving record; a possess a vehicle in good working condition suitable to meet daily driving requirements.
  6. Proficient in venipuncture and skin puncture using both vacutainer and syringe techniques.
  7. Knowledge of laboratory operations.
  8. Maintains sterile, sanitary conditions to prevent contamination.

This includes consistent and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.
