Job description

For Falkirk Council employees this is a secondment opportunity. Prior to application please obtain confirmation from your current Line Manager that you can be released to take up this secondment opportunity, should you be successful.

The Mobile Emergency Care Service have a part-time opportunity to work as a Mobile Operations Coordinator within the Mobile Emergency Care Service (MECS). This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to support the work within the MECS Service to deliver a quality, efficient and effective MECS service across the Falkirk area.

If you would like a job where no two days are the same, then this may be for you. The post will involve providing day-to-day management of the MECS service and line management of MECS staff.

You must be an experienced social service worker with commitment, patience and an understanding of ageing and disability and their effect on people’s lives. You must be able to work under pressure and deal confidently, calmly and sensitively with difficult situations. You must have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both internal and external, and in addition, have excellent teamwork, ICT and written skills.

The post is temporary until July 2026 and is available as a secondment opportunity for internal staff.

We are looking for a warm, outgoing, authentic, passionate and inspiring manager who has the ability to be able to respond positively to change and be capable of motivating others, which is paramount in this role.

Applications are sought from candidates with previous management experience, previous experience working in a care setting and a full driving licence.

Applicants should also have experience of both risk assessment and assessment of social care needs.

Knowledge of telecare technology would be a distinct advantage, as would a current First Aid certificate.

You must have, or be willing to work towards, an SVQ Level 4 in Care and Management. You will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within 3 months of employment

The post involves lone working.

The post is 33 hours per week and the shifts are a mixture of early, mid and back shifts. There is a requirement to work weekends and public holidays as part of a rota. You will also be expected to participate in an on-call rota.

If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership.
