Job summary

Selwood Ltd in Edinburgh is seeking a Mobile Fitter to maintain mechanical pumps at customer sites and within the branch. You will join a team covering Edinburgh and surrounding region, working on pump maintenance and responding to breakdowns.

The role includes a call-out rota with standby allowance and strong overtime payments. Base salary is £38,515 with potential to £44,824, with additional pay for overtime and call-outs; managers will explain details at interview.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 in Mechanical engineering (or other relevant qualifications) or equivalent work experience.
• Previous demonstratable experience of working with engines or a mechanical engineering background.
• Experience of working in a plant environment, on site with customers and in a workshop would be beneficial.
• Full UK driving license (with 6 points or less) as this role will involve site visits and breakdowns.

Responsibilities

• Work safely as a priority with PPE requirements is critical.
• Communicate accurately with work colleagues and customers alike.
• Obtain signatures and names from sites to ensure smooth processing of tasks.
• Keep a good standard of housekeeping ensuring work areas and vehicles are kept in good order and clean.
• Complete daily vehicle defect reports to ensure safety.
• Carry out all tasks as set out by given instructions or relevant training in a timely manner.
• Follow company policies and procedures.

About The Role

We are looking for a Mobile Fitter to join the team at our branch in Edinburgh, covering the surrounding region. In this role you'll be responsible for carrying out Mechanical Pump Maintenance at customer sites, as well as within the branch if needed.

Due to the nature of our branch operations this role will involve being part of a call out rota, which has a standby allowance plus excellent overtime payments.

Base salary of £38,515, with potential earning up to £44,824. Potential earnings include additional pay such as overtime, call-out payments and other applicable allowances and are to the best of our knowledge based on real world conditions. However, this may vary for individuals depending on the local availability of overtime and personal commitment to working additional hours. Our managers would be happy to explain how overtime and call-outs work during the interview process and address any questions you may have.

• Previous demonstratable experience of working with engines or a mechanical engineering background, with the ability to understand underlaying issues and how to resolve them.
• Experience of working in a plant environment, on site with customers and in a workshop would be beneficial.
• Able to listen, take on board information, and be able to translate this into practical solutions.
• Demonstrate a willingness to grow within the role, be open to training opportunities, learning new skills, and be committed to developing upon the knowledge you already have.
• Full UK driving license (with 6 points or less), as this role will involve attending site visits and break downs.
