Job Description
We are recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to work within an estates team, providing maintenance and repairs to mechanical plant rooms such as steam, pressure systems, AHUs, pumps/valves, and associated pipework. The role is a permanent position paying £39,500, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week during the day.
On-call duties are to be confirmed. Overtime is available. The position is based in the Leeds area.
Mechanical Engineer Description:
- Undertake maintenance, repairs, and inspections of mechanical building services in accordance with relevant standards, operational procedures, legislation, and guidance.
- Represent the company in a respectful and professional manner.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical and associated building services as per the PPM schedule and personal competence.
- Respond promptly to ad-hoc breakdown requests as directed by the supervisor or manager, or as per site contract.
- Assist with installation work for minor upgrades and adaptations.
- Conduct systematic fault finding on malfunctioning equipment.
- Follow safe working practices in line with statutory and company guidelines.
- Operate access equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely, adhering to health & safety and manufacturer guidelines.
- Use personal protective equipment correctly and follow health & safety and infection control procedures.
- Maintain accurate records, written or electronic, as required.
- Work flexibly with other trades and colleagues.
- Participate in callout/standby rota after a qualifying period.
- Undertake training to develop skills and meet service requirements.
- Perform on-site risk assessments as instructed.
- Complete all job-related paperwork diligently and within specified timeframes.
- Carry out any other tasks relevant to the role.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience in a maintenance environment.
- NVQ Level 3 in Maintenance Services or equivalent.
- Experience working with AHUs, FCUs, LTHW, pumps, pipework, valves, chilled and portable water systems, and water hygiene systems.
- Pipe fitting experience is desirable.
- Experience with PPM and reactive maintenance.
- Ideally, former Authorised Person for Mechanical Systems or a desire to attain this qualification.
- Experience working on plumbing systems.
- Ability to pass DBS checks.
- Valid driving license.
