Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter looking for a new challenge? Would you like the freedom of a mobile role, covering multiple sites in Yorkshire to repair and maintain mobile plant? Do you consider yourself well-organised, self-motivated, and driven?

We are recruiting a Mobile Mechanical Plant Fitter to join our friendly team covering the Yorkshire region. This key role will be responsible for maintaining and repairing Pave plant equipment including rollers, pavers, and JCBs. You will be part of our 24/7 engineering team maintaining plant equipment primarily on motorways and local authority roads in the region.

If you have experience maintaining agricultural equipment such as JCB tractors, combine harvesters, or paving plant equipment, then this is the ideal role for you. The role covers the whole of Yorkshire and links with our Salford site, accessible from Bradford, Leeds, Salford, Wakefield, Pontefract, Sheffield, Worksop, Castleford, Rothwell, Oulton, Swillington, Garforth, Wetherby, Whinmoor, Oakwood, Dewsbury, Headingley, Otley, Halifax, and surrounding areas.

Role Responsibilities
  • Responding to plant breakdowns to ensure assets are returned to production promptly, with follow-up on temporary fixes for permanent solutions.
  • Undertaking emergency breakdown repairs efficiently on all production equipment.
  • Owning small-scale projects and delivering them pragmatically and proactively.
  • Taking a cost-conscious approach to maintenance and coordinating with contractors and suppliers.
  • Participating in root cause analysis to prevent repeat failures.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement through observations and experience.
  • Working with risk assessments and method statements, developing safe working procedures.
  • Maintaining and promoting health & safety rules, following company procedures.
  • Challenging unsafe conditions and reporting them appropriately.
  • Utilising the computerised maintenance management system to record work, faults, spares, and repairs, including application-based inspections.
The Ideal Candidate

Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to work independently. Proven experience in an industrial, agricultural, or similar environment as a Mobile Fitter. Qualifications include:

  • Recognised apprenticeship (preferably higher-level)
  • ONC/HNC (desirable)
  • Strong practical mechanical skills with heavy industry experience
  • Welding and fabricating skills
  • Fault-finding abilities
  • Emergency repair skills
  • IT literacy and experience with application-based inspection schemes
  • Knowledge of SHE risks and safe working practices
  • Flexibility for training and travel across Yorkshire
  • Full UK driving licence with less than 6 points; CPC certification or willingness to train.
