Job summary

Kemp Recruitment Limited is assisting an independent field-based service provider in Peterborough seeking a Mobile HGV Mechanic to service customer fleets.

You will travel to sites to service, maintain and repair HGVs and trailers, attend roadside breakdowns, complete MOT preparation, and update job cards. The role requires fault-finding, strong communication, and a flexible approach to hours, with full UK driving licence and Health & Safety awareness.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or time served.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic experience.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
• Flexible approach to working hours and customer demands.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and trailers.
• Attend roadside breakdowns and recoveries.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Complete inspections and MOT preparation on customer fleets.
• Carry out emergency repairs to minimise vehicle downtime.
• Liaise with the parts department to obtain required components.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with Health & Safety procedures.
• Accurately complete job cards and service documentation.
• Deliver excellent customer service while representing the business on site.
• Maintain vehicle stock and equipment while keeping up to date with manufacturer training.
