Job summary

Kautec Recruitment is seeking a Mobile Fleet Engineer to service and repair HGVs across customer sites in the South West, including Swindon. You will travel to workshops and rural sites performing preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a range of specialist vehicles and equipment.

The role requires a qualified CV Technician or completion of an apprenticeship, with experience working on HGVs and a Class 2 licence (beneficial). Company van provided and ongoing training offered.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified Commercial Vehicle Technician or completion of a recognised Apprenticeship.
• Experience working with HGVs or commercial vehicles.
• Class 2 (Category C) licence – beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Attend vehicle callouts and carry out preventative maintenance.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns at customer sites.
• Pre-arranged servicing at customer and rural sites; MOT preparation.
• Engine work, diagnostics, and electrical repairs.
• Rectify running defects and perform chassis/fabrication work.
• Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems to improve reliability.
• Improve vehicle standards and reliability; conduct wiring inspections.
• Coverage includes Gloucester, Bath, Frome, Devizes and Swindon.

Mobile Fleet Engineer

Your day starts when you start your vehicle.

Are you an experienced HGV Technician looking for a mobile role where no two days are the same? We are looking for a self-motivated and independent Mobile Fleet Engineer to support a network of customer sites across the South West.

You will travel to customer workshops and rural sites carrying out servicing, repairs, and maintenance across a wide range of specialist vehicles and equipment.

The equipment you will work on includes:

• HGVs
• Ground Support Equipment (GSE)
• RoRo (Roll-on Roll-off) equipment
• Tractors and Tugs
• Shunters
• Cherry Pickers
• Other specialist/ bespoke operating platforms

Key Responsibilities

• Attending vehicle callouts
• Carrying out preventative maintenance
• Responding to emergency breakdowns
• Pre-arranged servicing at customer and rural sites

You will be covering the following locations:

We are looking for someone with a strong technical background and the ability to work independently while representing the company professionally on customer sites.

You must have a strong understanding of modern vehicle technology and be able to manage the repair process from fault diagnosis through to completion.

Requirements

Training & Development

The industry is evolving rapidly with the introduction of electric and hydrogen vehicles. Training will be provided on the latest products, systems, and repair techniques where required.
