Location: Preston
Salary: up to £20 per hour – Monday -Friday 8am -6pm -all 10 hours paid
Overtime paid at 1.5

My client who are a privately owned garage who cover the North of England and North Wales are seeking a skilled mobile HGV Technician to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vehicle maintenance and repair, with the ability to work on and have experience with heavy goods vehicles, trailers and light goods vehicles. This role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to our customers.

Duties

• Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on HGVs, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards.
• Diagnose faults using schematics and electrical systems, employing both manual and electronic tools.
• Perform welding, soldering, and assembly tasks as required for equipment repair.
• Maintain accurate records of all work completed and parts used during repairs.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure a safe and organised workshop environment.
• Carry out vehicle breakdowns roadside and at our customers locations.
• Be on call on a rota basis (O/T, C/O, and stand by paid extra for this)

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a mobile HGV Technician or similar role within the automotive industry.
• Proficiency in using hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and ability to read schematics.
• Experience in welding, soldering, and general equipment repair is advantageous.
• Excellent customer service skills with a focus on client satisfaction.
• Relevant qualifications or certifications in vehicle maintenance or engineering are preferred.
• A HGV license is preferably, but not essential.
