Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking a Mobile General Catering Assistant to support school meals in Chorley. The role is 5 hours per week, term time only, fixed term until December 2026, paid at £13.45 per hour. You will join a friendly school kitchen team and help provide healthy meals.

As part of a team, you will prepare dining areas, assist in food service, and maintain cleanliness. DBS disclosure is required; sponsorship is not offered.

Lancashire County Council provide catering services to over 500 schools across Lancashire, serving over 60,000 school meals per day and we are looking for committed individuals to join the service

You will work as part of a team offering relief cover in Schools in the Chorley and surrounding area, providing high quality, healthy, balanced meals for school children

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the dining area for service, including the moving and setting up of furniture and putting away
• Assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of food and beverages
• Cleaning of all equipment and catering areas

What We Are Looking For

• Ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative
• Good customer care skills
• Previous catering and food preparation experience would be desirable.

Working Hours/Days

• Monday to Friday
• Term time only
• 5 hrs per week MINIMUM, 1 hr per day Guaranteed , although hours are variable depending upon school meal uptake
