Job summary

Amey is recruiting for a Gas Engineer/Plumber to join a brand-new Mobile Team supporting the Ministry of Justice. Based from HMP Leicester, you’ll cover a small regional patch (approx. 8 sites), carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on commercial gas systems.

You will service boilers, heaters, water systems and ventilation, with opportunities to assist upgrades and minor works. A strong focus on safety and compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• Gas Safe registered with commercial qualifications such as CODNCO1, CIGA1, ICPN1, TPCP1/A.
• Experience maintaining commercial gas systems.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Additional qualifications in regulated environments are a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on commercial gas systems.
• Service and inspect appliances, including combustion analysis and testing.
• Work on boilers, heaters, water systems and ventilation.
• Support upgrades, installations and minor works.
• Ensure safe, compliant working in line with site standards.

Job description

Location: Based from HMP Leicester – covering regional sites)
Contract: Permanent | Full-time 39 hours per week (08:00–17:00) + 1 in 4 weekends (15% shift allowance)
Salary: £35,504 – £44,830 (depending on experience) + van & fuel card
