Job summary

GAP Group Limited, a nationwide plant and tool hire provider, is seeking a Mobile Plant Mechanic to join our depot in Inverness. You will service and repair a range of plant and tools, attend customer sites and breakdowns, and ensure GAP fleet remains available when customers need it.

The ideal candidate has proven field-based plant mechanic experience, current knowledge of heavy machinery, and a valid driving licence.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working as a plant mechanic/fitter in a field-based role with a relevant mechanical qualification or time served is essential.
• Sound knowledge of heavy plant machinery maintenance.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
• A customer-focused approach workload and committed team player.
• A valid driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Attend customer sites and breakdowns to service and repair GAP fleet equipment.
• Maintain and repair a variety of plant and tools and accurately update service records.
• Contribute to depot success by ensuring equipment is available when customers need it.

About the role

Our nationwide Plant and Tool division hires a range of equipment including diggers, dumpers and small hand tools to companies within the construction, utilities and infrastructure sectors.

As a Mobile Plant Mechanic you will play a pivotal role in the success of the depot by ensuring that our customers can hire what they want, when they need it through the efficient servicing and maintaining a variety of plant and tools within the GAP fleet. As part of our high-performing depot team, you will be responsible for attending customer sites and breakdowns to maintain, identify and repair any faults or damage to GAP fleet equipment whilst accurately updating service records.

About You

• Proven experience working as a plant mechanic/fitter in a field-based role with a relevant mechanical qualification or time served is essential
• Sound and current knowledge of heavy plant machinery maintenance
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to work effectively under pressure
• A customer-focused approach workload and committed team player
• A valid driving licence is essential
