Job summary

GAP Group Limited is seeking a skilled Plant Mechanic to service and maintain our fleet of diggers, dumpers and hand tools. You will work in our depot and occasionally on customer sites, ensuring equipment is safe, reliable and ready when customers need it.

You will apply proven experience in plant machinery maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair, with a customer‑focused, detail‑driven approach. A full, valid driving licence is preferred but not essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a plant mechanic/fitter with a relevant qualification or time‑served background.
• Solid up‑to‑date knowledge of heavy plant machinery maintenance.
• Attention to detail and ability to stay calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Service and maintain a wide range of plant and tool equipment in GAP fleet.
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs to minimise downtime.
• Update service records accurately and ensure safety standards compliance.
• Occasionally attend customer sites to carry out repairs and maintenance.
• Support depot team to ensure equipment availability and customer satisfaction.

As a Plant Mechanic, you’ll play a key role in keeping our fleet of diggers, dumpers, and hand tools hire‑ready. You’ll carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs—both in the depot and occasionally on customer sites—ensuring our equipment is safe, reliable, and ready to go when our customers need it.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Servicing and maintaining a wide range of plant and tool equipment within the GAP fleet
• Diagnosing faults and completing repairs efficiently to minimise downtime
• Accurately updating service records and ensuring compliance with safety standards
• Occasionally attending customer sites to carry out repairs and maintenance
• Supporting the depot team to ensure equipment availability and customer satisfaction

About You
