Job summary

Skillmatch Recruitment Ltd is recruiting a Mobile Fabric Engineer for a leading facilities management contractor in the UK. You will work across multiple sites delivering planned preventative maintenance and reactive fabric repairs.

Carpentry, basic plumbing, painting and plastering form part of the role, with records kept in internal systems. A full UK driving licence and a van are provided.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in building fabric or multi-trade role.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Knowledge of health & safety standards and safe working practices.
• Ability to work independently across multiple sites.
• Ability to pass security clearance checks.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive fabric repairs across multiple buildings.
• Perform carpentry, basic plumbing, painting, plastering, and general building fabric maintenance as required.
• Complete minor repairs to fixtures, fittings, doors, walls, partitions, and building finishes.
• Maintain accurate records using internal systems, including job sheets and compliance documentation.
• Liaise professionally with the client and site personnel, ensuring minimal disruption to sensitive environments.
• Participate in the out-of-hours rota to support emergency call-outs.

Due to an increase in upcoming projects, there is now a need for a Mobile Fabric Engineer to join this highly successful and forward-thinking organisation.

We are looking for a Mobile Fabric Engineer who wants to work in a diverse role where no two days are the same.

The Mobile Fabric Engineer will be responsible for:

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive fabric repairs across multiple buildings.
• Perform carpentry, basic plumbing, painting, plastering, and general building fabric maintenance as required.
• Complete minor repairs to fixtures, fittings, doors, walls, partitions, and building finishes.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, to a high standard, and in accordance with contractual SLAs and KPIs.
• Maintain accurate records using internal systems, including job sheets, asset updates, and compliance documentation.
• Liaise professionally with the client and site personnel, ensuring minimal disruption to sensitive environments.
• Diagnose issues, propose solutions, and elevate complex problems when required.
• Participate in the out-of-hours rota (where applicable) to support emergency call-outs.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

• Proven experience in a building fabric or multi-trade position (carpentry preferred but not essential).
• Full UK driving licence (mobile role with van provided).
• Strong understanding of health & safety standards and safe working practices.
• Ability to work independently across multiple sites with excellent problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to pass security clearance checks.
