Fabric Engineer to work within our Cooling Technology Business Unit.
Location: Midlands South, but expected to travel nationwide
Duties and Responsibilities
The role of a fabrication engineer requires the ability to undertake numerous tasks to support the cabinet operation:
- Spare Parts control, to support present and new customers
- Night blind fitting
- Evaporator fitting, both manufacturers and bespoke
- Full store removal
- Case moves as per program of works
- End wall supply and fitting
- Bumper replenishment
- Temporary cabinets
- Light diffusers and clips
- Manufacture and fitting of bespoke replacement panels and parts
- Cabinet installation as per program of works
Compliance
- Ensure adherence to all relevant company and legislative policies and best practices.
- Inform the relevant Manager of non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Carry out site-specific Risk Assessments prior to works.
- Report near misses and accidents to the branch QSHE Co-ordinator.
- Ensure PPE is fit for purpose and worn at all times during installation.
- Keep all electrical PAT testing up to date and inform the branch of renewals.
- Conduct van inspections at least twice a year.
- Calibrate gauges and equipment regularly and keep certificates up to date.
- Maintain a file with risk assessments, task procedures, and training certifications in the van.
- Keep copies of pressure test regulations and certificates; complete and issue pressure test certificates weekly.
- Ensure compliance with all procedures and uphold refrigeration industry standards.
- Support environmental policies and suggest improvements.
- Follow Group H&S procedures, balancing safety with business efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Understanding of end-to-end activities related to the role.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal) and influencing skills, especially at senior levels.
- Proven success track record.
- High attention to detail, resulting in zero errors/defects.
- Flexible, proactive, able to work independently with energy, assertiveness, and creativity.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Team-oriented and collaborative mindset.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines, manage multiple projects, and work under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- CSCS Card (training provided if necessary).
- Full UK Driving License.
- Experience working with diverse customers.
- Customer-focused attitude.

- Effective and professional communication with team members and customers.
- Ability to adapt quickly to change.
- Willingness to work nationally ('working away' is required).
- Computer literate with experience in various IT systems.
