Job summary

Virgin Active Limited is seeking Mobile Engineers at mid and senior levels to join the Digital & Technology Transformation Team. You will design, build and maintain mobile features for Android and iOS using Kotlin Multiplatform, collaborating with product, design and backend teams.

Senior roles involve owning complex features, shaping architecture and mentoring peers, with opportunities to influence delivery speed and quality across a global member platform.

Qualifications

• Professional experience building and supporting production mobile applications.
• Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin and modern mobile engineering practices.
• Experience in cross-platform or shared-code mobile environments, ideally Kotlin Multiplatform.
• A solid understanding of mobile architecture, design patterns and modularisation.
• Experience integrating mobile apps with backend APIs and third-party services.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, client-side networking and performance considerations.
• Experience writing unit tests and contributing to automated testing.
• Proficient with version control and collaborative engineering workflows.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work hands-on within a cross-functional Product and Engineering team.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, crash reporting and observability tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain mobile application features using Kotlin Multiplatform.
• Contribute to shared business logic, networking and platform integration for Android and iOS.
• Implement platform-specific functionality while maximizing reuse.
• Write clean, maintainable, testable code aligned with engineering standards.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to translate needs into solutions.
• Integrate the mobile app with APIs, services and third-party platforms.
• Deliver work through design, development, testing, release and support.
• Participate in code reviews and improve implementation quality.
• Troubleshoot production issues and conduct root-cause analysis.
• Improve app reliability, performance, observability and maintainability.
• Support mobile release processes and CI/CD improvements.
