Job summary

Ganymede Solutions is seeking a Field Service Engineer to cover the M4 corridor from Reading to London with occasional travel to Bristol. The role involves fault diagnostics on modern diesel engines, ECU data downloads, and remote diagnostics to identify faults before site visits.

You will ensure engine performance and availability in rolling stock while representing a leading power-generation solutions provider. London uplift applies and full company benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance of diesel engines and/or propulsion systems.
• Knowledge of ECUs and associated electrical control technology.
• NVQ level 3 minimum or equivalent.
• Demonstrable fault diagnostics and remote diagnostics experience.
• Valid pre-employment checks including medicals, drug and alcohol screening.

Responsibilities

• Carry out fault diagnostics on modern diesel engines and download data for ECUs.
• Remote diagnostic work to evaluate and interpret data and identify likely faults before site visits.
• Maintain performance and availability of diesel engines in rolling stock.
• Represent the company with engineering and commercial knowledge.

Field Service Engineer

Covered area: London to Swindon / Bristol to Swindon. Occasional travel up to London or Bristol. All driving hours paid door to door.

Salary: £40,000 - £47,000 per annum (London based workers receive a 15% uplift). Overtime available. Company van, fuel card, laptop, mobile phone.

Ideal Candidate

• Experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance of diesel engines and/or propulsion systems.
• Knowledge of associated electrical control technology and ECUs.
• NVQ level 3 minimum or equivalent.
• Demonstrable fault diagnostics and remote diagnostics experience.
• Valid pre‑employment checks including medicals, drug and alcohol screening.
• Preferred background in ex‑force personnel, marine, rail, automotive, HGV or bus sectors.

• Basic salary £40,286 - £47,395 per annum (London based workers receive a 15% uplift).
• Field‑based role covering M4 corridor from Reading to London.
