Job summary

Ganymede Solutions is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service diesel engines across the M4 Corridor from Reading to London, with a 40-hour week and 4-on/4-off shifts (2 days, 2 nights).

You will carry out fault diagnostics, download data, analyse ECU information, and maintain engine performance in rolling stock, with a company van, laptop and mobile provided, plus overtime and a competitive benefits package.

You will receive comprehensive training and must be eligible to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance of diesel engines.
• Minimum NVQ3 qualification.
• Experience with fault diagnostics and remote diagnostics.
• Able to pass pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Carry out fault diagnostics on modern diesel engines.
• Download data and analyse ECU information.
• Maintain product expertise to ensure performance and availability of diesel engines in the rolling stock.
• Conduct remote diagnostic work to identify likely faults before physically inspecting the engine.
• Intermediate fault‑finding and resolution using condition monitoring.

Field Service Engineer (Diesel Engines)

Location: Reading, Slough, London (M4 Corridor)

Salary: Up to £47,000 per annum (depending on experience) + Company Van + laptop + mobile + Overtime available

Responsibilities

• Carrying out fault diagnostics on modern diesel engines.
• Downloading data and analysing ECU information.
• Maintaining product expertise to ensure performance and availability of diesel engines in the rolling stock.
• Conducting remote diagnostic work to identify likely faults before physically inspecting the engine.
• Intermediate fault‑finding and resolution using condition monitoring.

Working Conditions

• Field based, covering the M4 Corridor from Reading to London.
• Shifts on a 4‑on/4‑off basis (2 days, 2 nights).
• 40‑hour week, 25 days holiday + bank holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance of diesel engines and/or propulsion systems and associated electrical control technology, ECU.
• Minimum NVQ3 qualification.
• Demonstrable experience of fault diagnostics, remote diagnostics and conditioning.
• Ability to undergo pre‑employment checks including medicals, drug and alcohol screens.
• Preferred experience in marine, rail, automotive, HGV or bus sectors, or ex‑forces personnel.
