Job description

Facilities Management Vacancy: Mobile Cleaner/Porter

West Midlands Police's Facilities Management department is seeking a Part-Time Mobile Cleaner/Porter to join our Corporate Asset Management team. The role involves cleaning and porter duties across police stations and partner buildings within the Wolverhampton area, with potential travel to Walsall, Sandwell, and Dudley. Travel expenses during work hours are claimable.

The successful candidate will perform general cleaning tasks, including cleaning offices, washrooms, welfare areas, custody suites, and forensic areas. Full training will be provided in accordance with British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) standards.

Working Hours

06:30 am - 12:30 pm, Monday to Friday

Key Duties

1. Damp dusting, suction cleaning, wet mopping floors, washing walls up to 3.53m using high-level equipment.
2. Cleaning kitchens, refrigerators, and cupboards.
3. Maintaining and reporting faulty cleaning equipment.
4. Reporting maintenance issues observed in the building.
5. Carrying out porter duties, including manual handling and external area cleaning.
6. Engaging in learning to perform duties safely and effectively.

Person Specification

• Experience in similar roles, preferably across multiple sites.
• Good communication skills, able to understand instructions.
• Basic IT skills (email, e-learning).
• Manual handling ability.
• Willingness to learn and develop skills.
• Ability to commute as needed.
• Self-motivated and interpersonal skills.
• Availability for some weekend and bank holiday work.
