Job summary

Fife Council is recruiting a Mobile Cook to work across various locations in Fife, based at Lindsay House, Lumphinnans. The 30-hour-per-week permanent role involves cooking, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring HACCP compliance while catering for residents in care homes.

The role requires catering experience or an SVQ/City & Guilds, a good understanding of dietary needs, and the ability to work as part of a team. PVG checks and induction training are part of the process.

Job Details

Do you have catering experience or a qualification such as an SVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent?

In this catering post, you would be responsible for all activities in the kitchen and its surrounds including cooking, organisation and supervision of food service.

Supervising staff working in the kitchen.

You must be aware of HACCP procedures and ensure all paperwork including electronic returns are completed and submitted accordingly.

Understanding dietary and nutritional needs of the residents within the care home.

Duties may also include transporting and serving of meals, general kitchen and dining room duties (for example washing up, setting up and clearing away equipment and tables), and cleaning of the kitchen and it’s surround.

We currently have a permanent vacancy for a Mobile Cook, covering locations in Fife:

• Mobile Catering Supervisor - 6-week rota working 3 weekend on 3 weekends off. Enhancements are paid for weekend working.

Duties will include preparation of food and beverages and the organisation of the service of food, along with understanding the requirements of special diets.

Duties may include serving of meals, general kitchen and dining room duties (for example washing up, setting up and clearing away equipment and tables) and cleaning of the kitchen, it's surround and equipment.

Completion of basic bookwork and electronic returns may also be required.

You will earn a competitive salary of £26,786.83 - £29,170.80 pro-rata and have access to a range of benefits, including:

• £14.27 per hour to start, plus extra payments for shift work, including weekends.

This work is about ensuring residents are provided with meals throughout the day.

Training on in house systems will be provided. Working towards an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate will be essential once in post.

The Person

Catering experience or a qualification such as an SVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent is essential.

Ability to provide a regular and effective service, working alone or as part of a team.

You will be required to attend an induction training day before starting in post.

Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
