Job summary

Amey in Leyland is recruiting a Mobile Building Engineer to deliver planned and reactive building maintenance across Ministry of Justice sites. The role requires a full UK driving licence, NVQ or equivalent in building maintenance, and experience carrying out maintenance independently.

You will contribute to safety compliance and operate within secure environments, including on-call duties. You will document maintenance activities, use IT systems for records, and develop AP capabilities with

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence is required.
• NVQ or trade qualification in building maintenance or construction-related discipline.
• Experience carrying out maintenance activities independently across varied environments.
• Knowledge of building compliance, health and safety practices and maintenance standards.
• Practical experience in fire door maintenance, fire alarms and extinguishers, emergency lighting, RCDs, and water temperature testing.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned and reactive building maintenance across multiple Ministry of Justice sites.
• Maintain safe, compliant and operational facilities that support the day-to-day running of the prison estate.
• Support compliance activities and operate in line with Amey, MOJ and HMPPS procedures.
• Develop Authorised Person (AP) capabilities within specialist disciplines, with full training provided.
• Follow strict security, safety and tool control procedures while working within secure environments.
• Participate in the on-call and weekend rota, responding effectively to operational requirements.
