Mobile AC Engineer

We are seeking a Mobile Service Engineer to carry out PPM and Reactive Activities within commercial premises. Candidates should ideally be located in the required area. Applicants will have commercial experience and be expected to assist with various reactive and PPM tasks. Some installation work may be involved, but the core of the role is maintenance.

The primary skill set involves AC systems, with a strong multi-skilled background in building services.

This is a hands-on role suited for individuals who can work independently, are proactive, reliable team players, and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as this is a client-facing position. The ability to produce quotes for additional work by obtaining material costs and writing detailed descriptions is also required.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive maintenance repairs across various contracts.
• Assess and order parts and equipment necessary for tasks.
• Work according to recognized industry standards at all times.
• Participate in flexible working hours and out-of-hours emergency cover as required.
• Undertake training, including health and safety courses and trade development, to maintain current knowledge and professional qualifications.
• Assist other trades as needed.
• Update and close completed Reactive & PPM tasks on the CAFM system.
• Maintain engineering standards to maximize efficient operation and reliability of plant.
• Adhere to company QA and site procedures.
• Follow health and safety procedures of both the company and the client.
• Inspect services and proactively address call-outs/repairs.
• Attend emergencies outside normal working hours.
• Maintain all company-issued tools in safe and working condition.
• Produce detailed reports for remedial works and technical situations.
• Update on-site logbooks for compliance.
• Perform electrical testing and complete certificates or documentation for works.
• Complete Method Statements and Risk Assessments as needed.

AC Specific Tasks

Perform works on AC equipment, including compressor and fan replacement, clearing blockages, replacing condensate pumps, fault-finding PCB’s and wiring, repairing pipework, pressure leak testing, and installing splits. Conduct PPM tasks such as annual servicing, cleaning filters and coils, FGAS leak checks, temperature testing, flushing, fan coil servicing, functional testing, and visual inspections.

Experience & Qualifications

• Extensive experience in service, installation, and maintenance of refrigeration and air conditioning systems, VRV, VRF, and split systems.
• Knowledge of fault finding on AC control systems.
• NVQ 3 Certificates in relevant fields.
• C&G 2079 F GAS and ODS Regulations: Category 4.
• Full UK Driving License.
• Knowledge of building fabric and basic reactive repairs.
• Extensive knowledge of health & safety regulations.
• Ability to work independently and on own initiative.
• Presentable appearance.
• Availability for call-outs.
• Good communication skills.
• Proficiency with smartphones and PDAs.
• Teamwork and willingness to follow instructions.
• Self-motivated and adaptable.
• Flexible working hours, including weekends and evenings.
• IPAF 3A & 3B, PASMA certification.
