Job description

Equans is looking for a Mobile AC Engineer to join our team in Benton, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, on a permanent basis within our Mobile Technical Services department. This is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week, offering a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:
  1. Carry out all PPM tasks according to maintenance specifications, logging activities in real time using the PDA with comments to evidence work completion.
  2. Complete all relevant paperwork related to PPM, reactive, and breakdown works promptly, passing it to the contract administrator. Fill out supplementary documentation/E-Forms as required.
  3. Update the customer's CAFM system with real-time start/wait/stop times and detailed descriptions of the work, including any follow-up actions.
  4. Address reactive tasks across sites proactively, highlighting areas for improvement, and record plant failures with quotations for the line manager.
  5. Ensure swift rectification of plant faults and defects to maintain operability, adhering to delegated authority or client approval.
  6. Maintain availability of suitable spares, providing parts lists and time estimates for remedial works.
  7. Perform Point of Work Risk Assessments (POWRA) before starting work, noting safety concerns in the AIMS system.
  8. Prepare and utilize Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks to ensure safety.
  9. Maintain a safe and healthy working environment, including wearing appropriate PPE and uniforms.
  10. Operate Permit to Work systems in compliance with Equans SHEQ processes and client requirements.
  11. Undertake mandatory and skills-related training as required.
  12. Develop professional relationships with colleagues, subcontractors, and client representatives.
  13. Present a professional image of Equans to clients.
  14. Keep plant rooms clean and tidy, supervise subcontractor work, and ensure compliance with KPIs/SLA.
  15. Respond to breakdowns outside normal hours as part of the on-call rota, working out of hours when required.
  16. Regularly audit vehicles and tools for safety and compliance.
  17. Perform any other tasks assigned by the contract manager.

This role is crucial as the first point of contact with clients, requiring cost-effective, timely work to maximize revenue.

Complexity:
  • Maintenance and repair of AC systems.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Recognized industry qualification and relevant experience.
  • FGas certification is essential.
  • Trade-qualified AC Engineer with post-apprenticeship experience preferred.
  • Valid full clean driver’s license.
  • Additional certifications such as Legionella, Asbestos awareness, MEWP license, and First aid are preferable.
  • Computer literacy, good communication skills, and a professional appearance are required.
  • Physically fit and fluent in English.
  • Availability for out-of-hours standby rota.
