An exciting opportunity has arisen at the new Rob Burrow Centre for MNDat Seacroft Hospital for a band 7 MND Respiratory Pathway Development worker.The role is based mainly in outpatients with some home visits.
The idealcandidate has excellent communication and organisational skills and a passionfor delivering the highest standard of care. You will be able to use the latesttechnology to provide treatment while maintaining the human touch. You're notonly a team player but also able to work and think independently.
You musthave a clean current driving licence and access to a vehicle.
The post is 0.2 WTE (one day - 7.5 hours) and is for a fixed term periodof initially 4 years but we do expect this to be extended.

The post holder will be practising as an independent specialist clinicalpractitioner providing patient-centred and evidence-based clinical care, withinan agreed scope of competence and practice.
The postholder will have specialist knowledge of respiratory conditionsrequiring on-going ventilatory assistance. They will be able to identify earlysymptoms of respiratory compromise and will be competent in the managementincluding assisted ventilation. They will provide on-going support to communityteams and families so that they may continue to care for individuals at home.This includes the management of complex tracheostomy patients includingtraining & completing tracheostomy changes and assessment, provision &training for patients requiring cough assist devices.
The postholder will provide inpatient advice and support to Professionalsand family when discussing home ventilation as a treatment option as well asadvice and monitoring regardingstabilisation and titration of ventilation, and selection of appropriateequipment for home care.
The postholder will work in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) toimplement and improve the patient pathway and will be expected to develop newskills to further enhance the quality of the service delivered.

The new Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease is a brand new facility at Seacroft Hospital, built to care for patients with this life-limiting, progressive condition.
The Director of the Rob Burrow Centre for MND is Dr Agam Jung, who leads a multi-disciplinary team. Dr Dipansu Ghosh is the MND Respiratory Consultant. Mr Rob Rathbone is the General Manager of the Neurosciences CSU and Dr Jonathan Bilmen is the Clinical Director and Mr Robin Darby is Head of Nursing and Dr Maruthi Vinjam is the Clinical Lead for Neurology.

Additional roles will include day to day leadership and management.
The post holder will work within the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) CareCentre. The MND care centre provides a co-ordinated interdisciplinary serviceto approximately 90 patients in Leeds and the surrounding area. The postholderwill join the MND multidisciplinary team responsible for this client group andmust be able to work closely with them. Attendance at clinics and team meetingson Thursdays is an important part of this role.
Work may take place in hospital settings or in the patients hometherefore the ability to travel between locations is a requirement of thisrole.
Key relationships will be with the sleep service, the RespiratoryConsultant at the MND Centre, neurologists, the MND Care Centre Co-ordinator,MND MDT, the MND Associations Community Support Coordinator. They will need to work collaboratively withRespiratory Support Workers at national MND Centres to share best practice andhave peer support.
