An established industry player is seeking skilled MMA Welders for a long-term refit project in marine engineering. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on various welding tasks, ensuring adherence to strict safety and quality standards. Candidates must possess NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualifications and demonstrate a strong background in MMA welding. Successful applicants will engage in a series of weld tests before commencing work. With a minimum commitment of 50 hours per week and competitive pay rates, this position promises stability and the chance to be part of an exciting project throughout 2025.
Our client, a well established Marine Engineering company, is looking for MMA Welders to join their team throughout 2025.
This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a long term refit project.
Suitable candidates must be NVQ Level 3 or Apprenticeship qualified and have a strong background in MMA welding. Previous marine/ship repair experience would be ideal but other heavy industries are also suitable.
Successful applicants will be required to spend a week in the test bay ahead of their allocated start date, passing the following tests to proceed onto the project.
Weld test details:
You will complete a 12mm butt weld in overhead position, if suitable you will then move onto a 25 mm plate in two stages - one side vertical, then the backside will be horizontal. The next plate will also be 25mm - firstly overhead, then the backside welded in the down hand position. All welds will be visually inspected, crack detected, UT and radiographed.
Full SC Clearance is required and once approved you will be taken through the clearance process before being issued a start date. Due to the level of clearance and the specific contract, candidates must be British.
If you already hold full SC clearance, we will ask you to obtain confirmation from the UKSV and a transfer will be arranged.
