Job summary

Checkatrade is hiring an MLOps Engineer to own how ML/AI run in production. You will turn data scientists' models into live, reliable services and build secure foundations for AI workloads. Reporting to Head of Data Engineering, London (hybrid) or Barcelona (on-site).

You will deploy, monitor and retrain models, set standards for CI/CD and model versioning, and ensure secure access to data across platforms. Join a team shaping AI at Checkatrade and help scale our data-powered decisions.

Qualifications

• Strong Python with production ML experience.
• Hands-on experience with GCP ML and data services.
• Docker and Kubernetes, plus CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.
• Observability design for ML/data systems: metrics and alerts.
• Security-minded data access andSecrets management best practices.
• Ownership of production systems and collaboration with data scientists and engineers.
• Prefer simple, maintainable solutions and high engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, automate, monitor and retrain ML models with real-time refresh where valuable.
• Set MLOps standards: CI/CD, model versioning, reusable patterns.
• Build infrastructure for AI tools and agents to access data securely.
• Maintain and secure the GCP data platform with AWS elements and debt reduction.
• Watch models, pipelines, AI usage and platform services for drift and costs.
• Apply controls to ML/AI workloads including data access and provenance.
