Job summary

Netcraft is seeking an ML engineer to apply machine learning to adversarial content detection across phishing and online scams. You will train and evaluate models, deploy them on GPU-backed Kubernetes clusters, and integrate them into production classification systems.

Qualifications

  • Strong web fundamentals: HTTP, DNS, and understanding how websites work.
  • Understanding of ML fundamentals: training, evaluation, overfitting, precision/recall trade-offs.
  • Good written and verbal communication; ability to articulate impact.
  • Empirical mindset: design experiments, measure outcomes, use metrics.
  • Willingness to learn Go and modern Perl, including asynchronous programming.
  • Attention to detail and responsibility for classifications.

Responsibilities

  • Build, evaluate and tune classifiers that decide what gets blocked.
  • Deploy and operate model serving on Kubernetes, including LLM inference.
  • Optimize models for high-volume, low-cost serving.
  • Run experiments against live data; measure precision, recall, false positives.
  • Integrate models into production classification platforms.
  • Build pipelines and monitoring: feature extraction, retraining, experiments tracking.
  • Investigate production issues: regressions and performance bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with engineers and analysts across the business.
