Job summary

Netcraft is hiring an ML engineer to apply machine learning to real adversarial problems, building classifiers that block phishing and fraud. You’ll train, evaluate and deploy models on GPU-backed Kubernetes, integrating them into production classification systems and monitoring live traffic.

Qualifications

• Strong web fundamentals: HTTP, DNS, and how websites work.
• Understanding ML fundamentals: training, evaluation, precision/recall trade-offs.
• Clear written and verbal communication, ability to explain complex concepts.
• Willingness to learn Go and Perl.
• Empirical mindset: design experiments, measure outcomes, and validate impact.

Responsibilities

• Build, evaluate and tune classifiers that decide what gets blocked and taken down.
• Deploy and operate model serving infrastructure on Kubernetes, including LLM inference.
• Optimize models for high-volume, low-cost serving.
• Run experiments against live data, measure precision/recall, and iterate.
• Integrate models into production classification platforms.
• Build pipelines: feature extraction, retraining,Experiment tracking and metrics.
• Investigate and fix production issues from regressions to bottlenecks.
