Job summary

Sopwell House is a luxurious Georgian country house hotel in Hertfordshire, offering timeless elegance and warm service. We are hiring a full-time mixologist/bartender for 40 hours a week, with up to £37,000 per annum including a service charge.

As part of our team you will craft exceptional cocktails, deliver personalised guest experiences, recommend drinks, and help shape the cocktail menu while maintaining immaculate bar standards.

Qualifications

• Experience as mixologist or bartender in luxury/high-volume venues.
• Strong knowledge of spirits, wine, cocktails.
• Creative flair with attention to detail and consistency.

Responsibilities

• Create exceptional classic and contemporary cocktails using premium spirits, fresh ingredients and precise technique.
• Deliver warm, personalised service behind the bar.
• Know guests' tastes and offer confident drink recommendations.
• Share expertise on cocktails and non-alcoholic offerings.
• Prepare syrups, infusions and garnishes with attention to detail.
• Help evolve the cocktail menu with seasonal trends and guest feedback.
• Keep the bar spotless, stocked and organized.

Your role in our family:

• Create exceptional classic and contemporary cocktails using premium spirits, fresh ingredients and precise technique
• Deliver warm, personalised service that makes every guest feel welcome behind the bar
• Get to know our guests' tastes, offering confident and knowledgeable drink recommendations
• Share your expertise on cocktails, premium spirits, wine, champagne and non-alcoholic offerings
• Prepare fresh ingredients, syrups, infusions and garnishes with real attention to detail
• Help shape and evolve our cocktail menu, bringing in seasonal trends and guest feedback
• Keep the bar spotless, well organised and fully stocked, supporting regular inventory counts

What we're looking for:

• Previous experience as a mixologist or bartender, ideally within a luxury or high-volume venue
• Genuine passion for mixology with strong product knowledge of spirits, wine and cocktails
• A creative flair balanced with meticulous attention to detail and consistency
• Excellent guest service skills with a confident, warm and personable manner
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays
