Job Title: Mixed Veterinary Surgeon

Location: Wexford, Ireland

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a background in Large Animals to join a dynamic and supportive team in Wexford. The ideal candidate will have a passion for both small and large animal practice, providing comprehensive veterinary care to a diverse client base. The role requires a compassionate, skilled, and motivated individual who is eager to contribute to the well-being of animals and the success of our practice.

The modern, purpose-built facility is equipped with the latest veterinary technology, including on-site digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, and a fully equipped laboratory, enabling you to offer top-quality care for the patients. The practice consists of 8 experienced veterinarians, 4 skilled nurses, and 6 friendly support staff, all passionate about delivering compassionate and expert care - including a team member with a certificate in cardiology ultrasound.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality medical, surgical, and dental care to both small and large animals.
  • Diagnose and treat illnesses in a variety of animal species.
  • Perform routine and emergency surgeries.
  • Advise clients on animal care, nutrition, and general health practices.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.



Requirements:

  • Qualified and experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a strong background in Large Animal (LA) care.
  • Must be registered with the Veterinary Council of Ireland and certified to carry out TB testing.
  • Confident and competent in performing routine calls, TB testing, and carrying out routine operations.
  • Experience in SA medicine and surgery is preferable.
  • Ability to work in a busy mixed practice, balancing a diverse caseload.
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach with a passion for providing high-quality care.
  • Must be able to share on-call and weekend duties as part of the 1 in 4 rota.
  • A compassionate attitude towards animals and clients alike.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating on-call schedule.
